DAVID P.

David P. Our Union:
It's how we stay strong, we are the union and that includes our families.

Good and bad about the job:
Each day brings a new challenge, the smile and thanks from our passengers make it all worthwhile.

The traffic:
It really doesn't matter to me, it's all about getting my passengers were they need to go safely, and time doesn't matter to me. Not like the company!

Likes and dislikes:
It's like having friends all over the city, what a great way to spend your day independence. Well the fear of an assault will always be in the back of my mind.

The best thing:
To actually see that our customers appreciate our service, and that so many people actually put their lives in our hands everyday, it feels great knowing this.

The worst thing:
The fear of an assault, the after affects of an assault, and the not knowing if it's today or tomorrow.

My job in the scheme of things:
I love what I do; this is a choice I made to be here. The passengers make it all worthwhile, the kids the smiles, and believe it or not just knowing I could help makes it worthwhile.

A message to Translink riders:
Remember we are only doing what the company directs us to do, don't forget to support your bus driver a good word or a letter to the company on the great services he or she gave you can go a long way. I also just want to say thanks, because with out the riders we wouldn't have a service, so a big thanks from me. Our goals are the same as yours, to get to your destination. The exception is I want to be able to go home and see my wife and kids, safe without bruises. To all of you who ride with us I say thanks for your help.

What my job involves:
To be able to move people as safely as possible to their destination of choice.

Dealing with the public:
It's alot of fun, people treat you the same way you treat them, I always have a great day. There is always someone that will smile and say "thanks", making it all worth while.

Memorable stories:
Talking to my brothers and sisters about the day-to-day workings of the job, listening and learning from the experiences others have had. Well there is always the preventable I was given for trying to make a stop for Mrs. Magilicutty, I was thanked but the company didn't see it the same way I did, thank goodness I learn fast.

The value of Translink:
Remember they are the ones that have the power to improve service, but also remember we as voters and taxpayers truly are TransLink, so let your voice be heard. They are there for you, so call them on the phone write them. Let them know how you feel about everything they are doing. Someone needs to be in charge.

Hobbies:
Coaching soccer, photography, and writing.
